Quick and Easy Card

This card took me probably 10 minutes to make. Quick and easy - love that! :-)

Everything on this card is from Stampin Up! I created the flower by punching out two pieces of Rose Red cardstock from the 5-petal Flower punch. The notches at the tips of the petals are easy - I just took my paper snips and snipped out a little notch. Then I sponged some Rose Red ink on the edges of the flower petals, and glued the two pieces together. I used a jumbo silver brad from the new Silver Hodgepodge hardware kit (Occasions mini) in the center of the flower.

Don't you just love quick and easy cards? LOL The next card I post (coming soon) was not quick and easy - it involves watercoloring, an oops, and then doing more watercoloring. LOL

Stamps: All Holidays
Ink: Rose Red
CS: Whisper White, Basic Black, Celery dp, Rose Red
Other: White taffeta ribbon, 5-petal Flower punch, Tag Corner punch, jumbo silver brad from Styled Silver Hodgepodge Hardware kit (Occasions mini catalog), sponge

New Road in Eggplant and Gold

I wanted to make a clean and simple card to showcase the pearlized paper I picked up at Hobby Lobby. It's by DCWV, and it's titled "The Luxury Stack." This paper is so shimmery and pearly and beautiful.

To keep it simple, I chose to stamp a quote from Asela's Bird Sampler just released last week at Cornish Heritage Farms. I stamped it with Royal Purple stazon ink onto Poison Ivory shimmery cardstock. It is layered on Brushed Gold cs, and then Eggplant cs.

I had a tiny scrap of Eggplant grosgrain ribbon left over in my "trash," so I folded it over and glued it underneath. I tied some Vanilla taffeta ribbon across the pearlized paper, and called it a day. Clean and simple.

The quote goes: "Still round the corner there may wait, a new road, or a garden gate. J.R.R Tolkien"

Stamps: Asela's Bird Sampler at Cornish Heritage Farms
Ink: Royal Purple stazon
CS: Poison Ivory, Brushed Gold, Eggplant, DCWV Luxury Stack
Other: Eggplant grosgrain ribbon, Vanilla taffeta ribbon

Fruit Carousel

When I was falling asleep last night, this idea came to me. I sat down tonight to stamp this before I forgot. I'm still having fun playing with the Carousel Notes, can ya tell? :-)

I used markers to ink up the stamps, and a white gel pen to make the white dots inside the scallops. The "happy hellos" is part of the SAB set, Lots of Thoughts. The white flower rub-ons are another SAB item - Love & Happiness rub-ons. The gorgeous red paper is part of the Summer Picnic designer paper, and I cut it out with a Coluzzle.

Stamps: Tart and Tangy, Lots of Thoughts
Ink: Real Red, Saffron, Celery, Old Olive
CS: Wasabi, White, Summer Picnic dp, Wasabi Carousel Notes (Occasions mini)
Other: scallop punch (SU), 1 3/8" circle punch, white gel pen, Love & Happiness rub-ons, Coluzzle

Get Well Flowers for Gramma

I created this to give my gramma tonight. She had major heart surgery, and I wanted to give her something pretty and soothing.

This is my first chance at using the new Carousel Notes from the Occasions mini. I had no idea they would be this much fun to play with!

I sprayed the scallop note (Soft Sky) with Frosty Nights Glimmer Mist to get that cool speckled and shimmery look. The pot of flowers is from the Bloomin' Beautiful set in the Occasions mini, and I stamped it with Stone Gray stazon ink onto Shimmery White paper. The flowers are watercolored with an aquapainter and reinkers - Soft Sky and Blue Bayou. I also used Celery (leaves) and Sahara Sand (pot) reinkers, and a Summer Sun marker (tiny dots inside flowers). To complete the shading, I used my Cool Gray Copic marker around the edges of the pot and flowers. If you click on the picture, you should be able to see a larger version of this card, and you can see more detail.

Looking through my Prima flowers, I found one that was that off shade of blue, and very similar to Blue Bayou, so I glued down a "Forget me Not" pale blue Dew Drop inside the flower. Then I glued the flower on top of the White Taffeta ribbon bow. I also glued some more of the same pale blue Dew Drops around the scallopy edges.

These Carousel Notes are too much fun! You can let your creativity go wild when you play with these. I'm so glad they come with envelopes so I don't have to go looking for one that is just the right size.

Now I need to write a little note to Gramma, and drive out to see her. Have a great Friday and a great weekend!

Belli Challenge #9 - Glitter

I created these cards for Chrissy's Belli Challenge. This week's challenge is to use glitter on your cards or projects. I love glitter, so this was a lot of fun.

The Easter egg and chick image is from Asela's Easter 2008 release over at Cornish Heritage Farms. I filled in sections of the egg with Art Institute glue, covered with glitter, and let it dry. Then I moved to another section and glittered with a different color, and again for the third color. All three glitters are from the Art Institute, and you can find a ton of their glitters at Cornish Heritage Farms.

The card with the big glittery "h" has the new Stampin Up chunky glitter on a sticky letter. So much fun!!! If you haven't tried chunky glitter, you really should.

The next card with the pink, green and blue glittery flowers was quick and easy. I found some glue rub ons at Walmart that came with some tiny bottles of glitter. Just cut out the rub on, use the stick to press the glue into the card, and sprinkle with glitter. Easy peasy!

On the last card, I popped out a couple of the die cut blooms (Stampin Up), covered the orange one with another one of the Walmart glue run ons, and covered it with Red Glitter (retired Stampin Up). I stamped some orange and green teeny flowers from the Friendship Blooms set (SAB free set), cut them out, and placed them randomly on the left side. I put a tiny dot of Christmas Red Stickles (glitter glue) on the top of the tiny flowers.

Enjoy the eye candy below:

Belli Challenge #8 - flowers!

This week's Belli Challenge is to use flowers. Felt flowers, real flowers, silk flowers, die cut flowers, Prima flowers, all kinds of flowers... :-)

For my first project, I kept it super simple. I had seen this card at SCS, and I just LOVED it. So I cased it, with a few subtle differences here and there. I stamped this image from For a Friend onto Shimmery White cardstock. Then I arranged some felt flowers from the Felt Fusion package (Stampin Up!), stuck a brad in the center, and adhered it on top of the stamped flower with dimensionals. I just wanted a little extra "ground" at the bottom, so I ripped a piece of Olive designer paper and adhered it to the Shimmery White cardstock.

Here is a FUN project to do with those cheap silk flowers from Walmart. I had bought several bunches of these flowers about a year ago, ripped them off the plastic stem thing, and stored the petals in a mason jar. I finally found a way to use up a bunch of them! This is really much easier than it looks.

I first tried some liquid glue on the back of a flower and TRIED to stick it to this frame. Nope. Wasn't sticking. So I looked around to see what I could use that would make the flowers really stick to the frame. The big pop up glue dots from Stampin Up are PERFECT! But being the frugal person I am, I could not use one glue dot for each flower. Oh gosh no! So I pulled little pieces from each big glue dot and adhered the center of each flower to the frame. It worked great!

I gave this frame to my Gramma last night. She is in the hospital, and will probably be there for a couple weeks. I thought this cheery yellow flower frame would brighten up her hospital room. :-)

This last project was just something I did on the spur of the moment. I bought the Die Cut Blooms from the new Stampin Up mini catalog, but I had no clue what to do with them. As I was looking around, I found this little composition notebook that I still had not gotten around to altering. Hmmmm............

I covered the notebook with Real Red designer paper (from the Level 1 Hostess paper package), then adhered the die cut blooms on top. It needed some oomph, so I covered the blooms with Stickles. Love those Stickles! Then I stamped the letters from the Doodle Alphabet (retired Stampin Up) with Versafine Onyx Black ink and colored with Real Red, Bashful Blue, and Pumpkin Pie markers. When they were dry, I cut out the letters at funky angles and glued them to the notebook. Some black gingham ribbon was adhered on the back and wrapped around to tie the notebook shut.

Now it's YOUR turn to play with the flowers that you have around your house. Got some silk flowers that don't fit your home decor anymore? Rip them off the plastic stems and put them to work on your stamping projects. Do Chrissy's Belli Challenge and leave her a comment with the link to your card. If you upload to SCS, please use keyword CBC8 so we can see your creations.

Happy Stamping!

Cookie Cutter Egg Card

Isn't that CUTE??? Hee hee hee! I wanted to play around and have fun, so I pulled out my egg shaped cookie cutter, and traced it on some Banana cardstock. It was folded in half first, then I put the cookie cutter down so that the folded edge of the cardstock was inside the cookie cutter. I traced it with a pencil, then cut it out.

Then I had fun decorating the Easter egg. Isn't that the best part of making Easter eggs - the decorating?? :-) I stamped the flowers from SU's A Good Egg stamp set at the top and bottom of the egg, and then colored them in with a white gel pen, Celery marker, and Lavender Lace marker. I accented the centers of the flowers with a yellow Spica glitter pen.

For the middle of the egg, I wanted some Dew Drops, so I found some that sort of match the Celery and Lavender colors, and glued them down. The inside of the card is stamped with "happy easter" from the same A Good Egg stamp set.

Stamps: A Good Egg
CS: Banana
Inks: Stazon Black, Celery, Lavender Lace
Other: white gel pen, yellow Spica glitter pen, Dew Drops, cookie cutter

Belli #7 - Hardware!

Chrissy's Belli Challenge this week is to use hardware on your card. It can be brads, clips, buckles, slides, staples, etc. Pull out those boxes of Hodgepodge Hardware and go through the hardware in there. Play with some that you haven't used in a while (or at all....).

For this card above, I chose to keep it simple, and I used a silver Fastenator staple to adhere the vellum to the cardstock. I have tons of these staples, and I just don't use them enough. Time to pull them out and play!

Stamps: Penny Black and Verses Rubber Stamps
Ink: Stazon Black, Celery, Saffron, Pretty in Pink, Regal Rose
CS: White, Celery dp, Regal Rose, Vellum
Hardware: Silver Fastenator staple

For this puppy card, have you seen that weird rectangle shaped piece of hardware? I stared at that thing for hours with no clue what to do with it. Somehow it finally dawned on me that hmmmmmmmmmmm.......... a piece of ribbon going this way, and another piece going that way........... hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm........ it could work...... I still don't know if that is what this hardware piece is actually for, but it looks okay on this card.

Stamps: For Father
Ink: Timber Brown Stazon
CS: Blue Bayou, Kraft, Chocolate Chip, Naturals Ivory, retired dp
Hardware/Misc: rectangle piece and brads from Hodgepodge Hardware, twill tape ribbon, distressing tool from the Cutter Kit, watercolor pencils and blender pen

If you upload your card to SCS, please use keyword CBC7. Leave a comment on Chrissy's blog with the link to your card to enter for a chance to win some blog candy.

I've been tagged!

My twinnie, Miss Nancy, has tagged me. I'm supposed to tell you 7 random facts about me, and then turn around and tag some other girlfriends. So..... here's what I can think of at the moment:

1. I am a sci fi freak - Love all the Star Trek incarnations, StarGate, and even Star Wars.

2. I love to read books. Mystery, trashy romance, fiction, nonfiction, sci fi, heck I've probably read anything and everything out there. My only exception would be comic books - no interest in those....

3. I love to cook. I just tried a new pineapple upside down cake recipe from Miss Anna (SweetMissDaisy) and it was YUMMY. My hubby loved it!

4. My gramma (yes the spelling is intentional) taught me to play the piano.

5. I started college with the intention of going for an English degree, but then thought, what would I do with THAT? I did not want to become an English teacher, so I changed my mind and went with the computer degree.

6. My hubby says I have 3 major food groups - bread, potatoes, and chocolate! ROFL!

7. My mother thought we were going to name our second dog Princess. Um nope. One royal dog is enough, thank you. Hahahahaha. (FYI - Queenie and Emmy)

Now for the rules and who I am tagging.

The rules: Link to your tagger and post these 3 rules on your blog. Share 7 facts about yourself on your blog, some random, some weird. Tag 7 people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blogs. Let them know they are tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

Well, I'm just going to tag 3 gals, so I am tagging:

Chrissy

Debby

Kim Marie

Okay, gals, TAG, you're it!
