Belli Challenge #15 - Watercolor Pencils

This week's Belli Challenge is to use your watercolor pencils. Pull em out and color some stamped images. It will make you feel like a kid again. I love to color (when I have the time), and here are some cards I did this weekend.

These kitty images are from Pink Cat Studio. My Mom bought their unmounted rubber, thinking it was "ready" for acrylic blocks. Um...nope. It was just a sheet of rubber, no foam, no sticky stuff. So she brought it to me, hoping I would mount them for her. I took one look at these CUTE kitty stamps, and said SURE!!!!! Little did she know I was gonna be inking these babies up when I was done cutting the rubber, mounting on EZ Mount, and hot knifing the foam. I had such fun playing with these kitties. Shhhhhhh.....don't tell Mom. ;-)

Belli #14 - Ribbon

This week's Belli Challenge is to use ribbon, but you can't have any knots or bows on your ribbon. Time to get creative and think of something different.

I tried stamping the wood background with white craft ink onto the Chocolate Chip ribbon, but it dried so pale, you couldn't even see it. So I trashed that and left the Chocolate ribbon plain. I stamped the Olive ribbon with Versafine Vintage Sepia and that seems to look pretty good.

I wanted a simple image so as not to take the focus away from the stamped ribbon, so I just did a simple burned edges around the apple tree image.

Now it's your turn to create something with ribbon, no knots and no bows. If you upload to SCS, please use keyword CBC14. Post a comment on Chrissy's blog posting so we can see your artwork.

Stamps: Wood Grain backgrounder, Apple Tree (both from Cornish Heritage Farms)
Ink: Versafine Vintage Sepia, Walnut Stain distress ink
CS: Kraft
Other: Chocolate Chip wide grosgrain ribbon, Olive wide grosgrain ribbon, sponge, distress tool

Belli Challege #13 - UFO's

This week's Belli Challenge is to find and complete any UFO's (UnFinished stamping Objects) laying around. I had colored this owl pink for a swap, and then it just didn't work for that card, so I set it aside. I found it on my table today, picked it up, and went to work making a card with it.

This owl is part of the U R A Hoot stamp set at Cornish Heritage Farms. The sentiment is from the same set, but it is one long horizonal phrase. I inked up one word at a time, stamped it, cleaned the stamp off, and repeated two more times.

Now it is your turn to finish up your own UFO. If you post your card or project on SCS, please use keyword CBC13. Don't forget to post a link in the comments so we can all see your UFO. :-)

Stamps: U R A Hoot (Cornish Heritage Farms)
Inks: Versafine Onyx Black, Pretty in Pink, Pixie Pink, Saffron, Pumpkin Pie, Creamy Caramel
CS: Confetti White, Pumpkin Pie, Saffron, striped paper from my stash of unknowns
Other: Dazzling Diamonds, retired SU pink heart eyelets, dimensionals

Belli #12 - Scraps

Chrissy's Belli Challenge this week is to use up your scraps. Would you believe it took me less than 10 minutes to make this card? Yup, not even 10 minutes.

The only piece of cardstock that I had to trim down was the Old Olive strip behind the Pumpkin Pie designer paper. Everything else was already the size that you see on this card. The flower shapes are from the Die Cut Blooms in the Occassions mini catalog - just pop em out and you're ready to go.

The little Real Red strip fit just perfectly over the Pumpkin Pie and Old Olive vertical strip, so all I had to do was stamp something and embellish it with some Styled Silver hardware. I love it when a plan comes together and I don't have to throw something in the trash in frustration. :-)

Now it's your turn to create a card using up your scraps. Don't cut up a new sheet of cardstock - look in your scrap pile and make use of it. If you post your card to SCS, please use keyword CBC12.

Guava Carousel Note

Can I tell you something? These Carousel Notes are dangerous! Dangerously FUN!!!! :-) I am just having too much fun with these.

Remember the notched flower from my earlier post? I made another one using Guava cardstock, sponged with Guava ink around the edges, and put a Build-A-Brad in the center. The paper in the middle of the brad comes from the Ginger Blossom designer papers. I wanted it to relate to the same papers I used on the Carousel Note. To finish off the card, I used the 1/16" hole punch and punched out a tiny hole in each of the scallops.

It's hard to take a picture of the carousel notes. They never seem to stand perfectly straight; they are always a bit crooked. LOL

Stamps: Morning Soft
CS: Guava Carousel Note, Ginger Blossom dp, Really Rust, River Rock
Ink: Groovy Guava
Other: Build a Brad, 5-petal Flower Punch, CM circle cutter, 1/16" hole punch, 1/2" circle punch

Belli #11 - Embossing Powder

It's time for Chrissy's Belli Challenge! This week we are doing embossing powder. You know, that stuff you bought 5 years ago, stashed in a drawer, and forgot about? Pull it out and shake it up, and put it to use. Here is one way to use embossing powder.

Before I got started, I wiped down my white cardstock with my embossing buddy. I didn't want any stray pieces of embossing powder all over the paper, and this embossing buddy really helps. I inked up this beautiful flower stamp with Gold Encore ink, stamped on the white cardstock, and covered it with Gold embossing powder. After I shook off all the excess powder, I heated it up with my heat tool.

While it was cooling off, I picked out some colors of Twinkling H2O's that I thought would be a good match with the background paper. It was fun to color in the spaces with the twinklers - there's no worry about colors running together because the raised embossing powder acts as a barrier.

To finish off the card, I added some raised white dots with an old bottle of Paper Paint. It might be hard to see them, since they blend into the card rather nicely.

Pull out your embossing powders and create a card. If you post to SCS, please use CBC11 as a keyword. Don't forget to post your link to Chrissy's Belli Challenge so we can ooh and ahh over your creations. :-)

Stamps: Stampendous, Stampin Up Everyday Flexible Phrases
CS: Bordering Blue, Burgundy, Whisper White, Basic Grey Perhaps collection
Ink: Gold Encore, Burgundy
Twinkling H2O's: Buttercup, Blue Ice, Playful Peony, Pear Blossom, Jasper Red, Black Orchid
Other: Word Window punch, gold embossing powder, White Paper Paint, aquapainter, embossing buddy
